I read about half this book, and then gave up because it just wasn't consistent or engaging enough to stick with.
Like
any collection of essays, there's a variety of quality here. Parents
will find some enjoyment in reading about others wrestling with familiar
issues in raising a girl. There are some occasional funny or touching
moments. The one essay I particularly liked was "El Corazon" – Jeff Griffioen's story about girls'
budding sexuality and allowing them to find their own path.
But some of the other stories are dull or self-indulgent, and frankly it's just too hard to find the good stuff in this book.
