Historical list of Los Angeles Unified school board members: District 1

Since the Los Angeles school district started electing board members by geographic districts in 1979, only four people have held the District 1 seat and they’re all women:

• Marguerite LaMotte, 2003-2013
• Genethia Hudley-Hayes (Genethia Hayes), 1999-2003
• Barbara Boudreaux, 1991-1999
• Rita Walters, 1979-1991

District 1 encompasses much of South and Central Los Angeles. See map.
