A head's up if you're thinking of heading down to Alfredo's Beach Club on Alamitos Bay to rent kayaks, paddleboards, bikes or anything else: It's closed.
There's no mention of the closure on the Alfredo's website, but when I visited December 15 it was sealed up tight. An employee at the Alfredo's location near downtown Long Beach told me that the Alamitos Bay site has been shut because they're renovating the bathrooms. He said it would be months before it reopens.
