L.A. Fitness deal – $34.99 monthly and no initiation

Visitors to my blog are reporting success in getting a good online deal at L.A. Fitness $34.99 a month and zero initiation fee. Here's what to do:

Update on this topic: Want a deal on joining L.A. Fitness? Call Paul

Important update: See "How to Save Money Joining L.A. Fitness"

----------------

Go to the L.A. Fitness "Friends and Family" page.  But note that sometimes that link only takes you to the L.A. Fitness home page. So you have to trick them a little bit.  At the L.A. Fitness home page, look for a "Join Online Today" ad to appear. Click on it. On the next page, you'll see a button that says "Join Now." Click on that.

You should then be looking at a page that says "Join Now Online" and "Find by State or Zip Code." At that point, come back  to this article and click on the "Friends and Family" link again. This should take a page where you enter a code.

As of Sept. 5, 2013, these codes work:

1902356

1921660

1958841

1958868

As of Aug. 25, these codes work:

1958787
1958841
1958868

Deal is $34.99 a month; no initiation

Grab the deal!

If they don't work for you, try another number nearby in the sequence (can't hurt).  If you still can't find a working code, check the comments below or go to my post here, where helpful readers are posting new tips all the time.

    1. This code worked for me on 5/15/13. This is how it worked for me: scroll up and click on the "here" link in the paragraph under "Grab the deal". When you do, a new post will pop up with a "Friends and Family" link that works (the one on the page above does not take you to the right place). When you click the F and F link on that page, another page pops up asking for your code. Paste in the code and go from there. Worked for me

  9. Do you know if this works for multiple locations?
I can go to other gyms that don't include the one I selected?

  10. what is the catch for this deal? what is the cancellation fee for this deal?

    ReplyDelete

    1. No catches that I'm aware of. A lot of people have used it.

  12. I just became a member of L.A. Fitness for $29.99 a month with 0 initiation fee. This includes Multi-Club locations EXCEPT Signature Clubs. I have researched for the lowest possible price; I even tried to find a deal for $24.99 a month. I went to L.A. Fitness and spoke to sales people which I will never do again. They told me they could only give me as a “Returning Member” $99 initiation fee and $29.99 a month. I asked for $24.99 a month since I was a returning member. They said $29.99 initiation fee plus $29.99 a month is the best they can offer me.

I asked them? What if I paid up front for a year? Then I was told for $299 up front initiation payment for a year, I can then pay $24.99 a month. I promptly left and went online for the “Friends and Family” link and got the same deal of $29.99 a month with 0 initiation fee which I had 3 years ago.

So if you are REALLY READY to join L.A. Fitness then your best bet is to enroll from “Friends and Family” link posted with the most current working code. Also, if you have a local 24 Hour Fitness you can get a great deal at Costco for a 2-Year gym membership for way less then L.A. Fitness. FYI: Calling L.A. Fitness Corporate is of no help.

Tell me how it works out for you? Good Luck!

  13. Ok, so i tried this friends and family deal. the code i entered worked but it must have been old, because when i reviewed the contract before i signed stated that i could only visit the gym Mon- Thurs. 8am-4pm. So i called the gym and spoke to a sales rep. He questioned me on I got this amazing deal of no initiation fee. I played dumb and said I just followed the prompts. He told me that they no longer do that contract type. And he was confused on how i was able to get that deal. I told him that i didn't want to sign a contract that i might not want, and that I would just go in person. He told me that would be the best thing to do. Then I asked if I could get the same deal. He said they didn't have that at the moment. I then told him that my friend only paid $5 and my sister paid $25. He told me that they had different deals recently. Then he told me that for this weekend only my sister can add me for $0 initiation fee and first and last months. I will try it this weekend.

I think the sales reps in the gym would rather get the credit for signing a new customer that they are willing to wave the initiation fee.

    I will keep you posted!

    1. Are there any new codes? Nothing seems to work

  21. I just got to the last screen in the checkout with 1948703, and while it would have worked, if you hit the "preview contract" button in the last screen, as someone else mentioned, this deal is for a "Limited Access" plan, which says: no entry or access after 4pm Mon-Thurs. Has anyone been able to get full access with any other codes, or are they all this "limited access?"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Where in the contract are you referring to? Page 2 under "Services"? If so, the "no entry or access after 4pm Mon-Thurs" is only if you purchase an additional "service" with your membership for immediate family members, not you as the main membership holder. I didn't check any additional services boxes, and so my contract automatically checked the "racquetball courts" services box (which I think depends on the gym location you choose; yours may not have that available), which is not an additional fee. Rest assured that you have full access to the gym, for $29.99 a month, and with a working code (1948703 worked for me), no initiation fee. Happy wallet, happy health!

      Delete
    2. It's actually the first box of the fist page of the contract. It has a check box that says "if this box is checked you have limited access," and lists the times. I'm starting to think it's state-specific. I tried some other zip codes in the sign up process and didn't get that box, but all Florida zips (where I live) seem to include that limitation.

  22. Used code 1948703 on 5/30/13. It worked. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. why am I getting charged $59 for signing up and will it only be $29 after that?

    ReplyDelete
  24. The initial codes above all didn't work, the instructions to get you to the discount code page did, the code that worked is the 1948703, not sure how much longer it will work, good luck, I saved $100.

PS your getting charged $59 for start because your paying your first and last month, like renting an apartment, it will be $29 a month after that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. is this a month to month contract? and do we get some kind of access key to access the facility?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yes it's month-to-month, but you prepay first+last month like an apartment. Cancellation is a bit weird; you would cancel before a given month's billing date and your membership ends at the end of the following 30 day period; essentially 45-60 days later due to the prepaid final month.

Every facility I go to is staffed and they scan your keytag barcode. Not like the unstaffed places where you cardkey in the door.

  33. FYI the code is essentially an employee number. Obviously a place like LAF is going to have pretty heavy turnover.

If a code above doesn't work, try variations. I tried a few different codes just for grins and in short order found 1948610 worked, displaying $35/mo no initiation.

  45. Its good to know that there are lots of fitness gyms here in NY that can support us. We must find the perfect place to start our campaign towards our own fitness. Make sure that when we start that, we will continuously do this to have a good and healthy fit body.

  46. Update: what I have learned guys is that LA fitness has this same special (no enrollment fee and $34.99 a mnth) on there website. You can get this deal as long as you have a friend or family member with an LA fitness account.

So basically when we enter that code in to get the discount we are saying that were either a friend or family member of the person name that goes to that code. Make sure u remember the name that comes up when u sign up. It could b helpful to you in the long run.

Also, if u get questioned which you shouldn't you just say that your a friend or family member of the person name that goes to that account. Were just telling a very small lie. They should be happy with all the new members that they are getting because of this code.

Pretty sure they caught on to more people knowing code is why jacked it up $5.

    4. Many, many people have used this deal with no problem. I got my own membership this way four years ago and there have been no issues. This is just like a using a coupon, it just gives you a little break on the initiation.

  106. I just went to the closest LA fitness (Pico R) and they first offered the 34.99 and then accepted my 29.99 counter and threw in a couple of free fried passes.

  107. I signed up on Friday. 29.99 no other fees. All CA clubs. The codes did not get me anything better than 34.99. At the club they offered a 2 year for 720 pay in full. I didn't take it as who has 720 sitting around waiting for a good time. Club I went to was in Pico Rivera. Diego was the sales guy. Club has courts and a pool.

    2. Can you let me know where and when you got this deal? I called my local club at Kaleidescope in mission viejo and they said there are no 29.99 rates with no activation fee. If you know who you talked with that would be helpful too.

  108. Code 1921655 worked online, but it is an employee and LA Fitness staff at my club contacted her to verify if she knew me... cancelled the membership on me but offered a reduced initiation fee of $49.99 and $39.99/month for single club (I'm in NY).

  111. My local LA Fitness is a 'Signature' location. Their advertised base rate is $45/month. There is also an LA Fitness on my way to work. A normal, non-signature, location. If at all possible I would want a membership that would allow me to go to both locations.

The two locations are Pittsburgh-Penn Ave (Signature)15206

    and

    Robinson Township 15205

I would be getting a membership for me an my Fiance.

    Any advice?

  112. worked thank you tried calling two la fitness's in my area both gave me different prices just did it online with your code thank you!

  113. Ive tried all the codes and the cheapest I can get is 34.99. Any 29.99 codes out there?

    1. My experience for the club in Culver City California was that the price is $29.99 if you attempt to sign up without the discount code, but it changes to $34.99 if you use the discount code. Couldn't find any way to get around this. Note that with the discount code you get out of the $99.99 initiation fee. So for me it was worth the tradeoff to use the discount code.

  114. Several people have commented that they are able to sign up with no initiation fee on the website, but when they go in they are questioned and one person even had their account cancelled. What are we supposed to say if they question it? (I really don't see how they can take it back if they've already taken the money, but anyway, just in case, what's the best thing to say?)

    1. good question, I want to try the code but it would be really embarrasing if they question it.

    2. Relax, everyone. First, many, many people have used these codes with no problem. I got my own membership four years ago this way and there have been no issues.
Second, there's nothing wrong with using a discount code you found on the Internet. Haven't you ever used an online coupon to get a few bucks off something? This is the same thing.
What do you do if they question it? Say you signed up at LAFitness.com. Then go workout.

  121. I just tried the 1921568 and it worked for me as well. Got the $0 dollar iniation and $34.99 a month.

  122. Why do you think $0 initial and $34.99 a month is a good deal when all the clubs around that I call in Florida are $30 with $50 initiation?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good point that should be pointed out at the top. But if you're only doing a few months (like me) you will save money and omit the up-front fee.

    2. I live in Miami and the initiation fee is $100, so I don't mind paying an extra $5 a month to avoid that initial extra hundred bucks up front. Guess it depends on how you see it.

I wonder if it is possible to add courts amenity when we use these codes. I know we have to add $5 a month generally for the courts in case we pay $99+$29.99. But how do we add courts when we use these codes?

  139. none of these codes were working on 9/9. :-( I went into a club on 9/8 and had talked the guy down to $29/mo, no initiation fee-but had to go back sunday to sign up (he claims he found a *special* in his email for 9/9 as I was getting up to walk away. I didn't make it back, ah! I held firm the whole time he was talking and I said it was a tough pill to swallow after being a Bally's member since 1997 and having $120/year renewals.
