No offense to Tar Heels, whatever they are

My son, 8, just joined a basketball league. On the first day, in a very noisy gym, the coach gathered the players and told them their team would be called the “University of North Carolina Tar Heels.”  My son was pretty excited about this, but when he heard the team name again later, he realized it wasn’t what he thought.  “Aah, I thought we were the University of North Carolina Guitar Heroes.”
